HEREFORD head coach Sean Lynn was delighted with the response from his players after they comfortably beat Camp Hill 39-3 in Midlands 1 West.

The Wyesiders went into the game on the back of a heavy loss at Burton, but managed to put their opponents to the sword with a strong second half performance.

“All week we were looking for a positive reaction, especially after the result away at Burton, and the boys were outstanding," said Lynn.

"Full credit to Camp Hill, they came hard at us for the first 20 minutes and we said it would be a game of two halves.

"The chat before the game was that the set pieces were key and our front five were outstanding.

"Guido Suez, Lewis Jordan and Matt Hill scrummaged well and the work rate from Gareth Jones and Richard Preece was excellent.

"It was really nice to see Sean Day back, running at the opposition from any loose kicks and bagging a couple of tries as well.

"For me, it was an outstanding 18-man squad performance with everybody going in the same direction."

Camp Hill started strongly, but Hereford's defence was strong and the home side never looked in danger of conceding any tries.

Hereford opened the scoring with a try from Day before both sides exchanged penalties; James Stubbs converting for the Wyesiders.

Some over vigorous play resulted in two Camp Hill players yellow carded, the second just before half time.

Hereford took full advantage of the one man advantage and, from a scrum on the Camp Hill line, number 8 Ollie Hutchinson drove over for a try to make it 13-3 at the interval.

The home side then kicked on in the second half, with Stubbs converting Gareth Jones' try.

The bonus point was secured with a Leon Parsons touchdown; Stubbs again converting, before two further tries were scored.

Day went over for his second try of the afternoon before Parsons sealed the win.

This Saturday, Hereford travel to Dudley Kingswinford.
