FORMER Greyhound star Izzy Noel-Smith scored a try as England got their 2017 International Women’s Rugby Series campaign off to a winning start with a 53-10 victory over Australia at Porirua Park, New Zealand.
Winger Sarah McKenna also scored a hat-trick, while further tries came from Abbie Scott, Kay Wilson (two), Vicky Fleetwood and Harriet Millar-Mills. Emily Scott added four conversions.
“There were some really good parts to our game today," England Womens head coach Simon Middleton said.
“It was our first run out after a very long journey and a tough few days acclimatising.
"The players are slightly frustrated with a few errors but we’ve got to be pleased with putting on 50 points against a very competitive and physical international side.”
England are next in action on Tuesday when they face Canada.
