LUCTONIANS are all but safe in National League 2 North after seeing off Otley 30-21.

The Kingsland side were in control for large periods of the game and withstood a late onslaught from their opponents to claim back-to-back wins.

Lucs started well, with Frank Kelly going over after 12 minutes following good work from Olly Allsopp; Johnny Morris converting.

A Will Hodnett try almost immediately followed when he ran through to score again after excellent work from Alex Smith who had to leave the field shortly afterwards with a dislocated elbow.

Morris again converted for a 14-0 lead.

A penalty was then slotted over to increase Luctonians' lead, but Otley reduced the deficit with a converted try.

A penalty try for Lucs just before half-time should have seen the home side confident going into the second half, but Otley came out with a lot more purpose.

The away side converted a try and when a penalty try was awarded, which was also converted, the score was only 24-21 in Lucs' favour.

But Lucs dug deep and, roared on by the home crowd, were awarded two late penalties from Otley errors.

Morris kicked over both to finally see off the away side and consolidate Lucs' position in mid-table.
