WORLD Cup rugby winner Mike Tindall dealt Ross-on-Wye a promotion blow as he helped his Minchinhampton side to a 10-8 victory.

Ross fell nine points behind the second promotion place following the defeat to the disappointment of manager Keith Scrivens.

"It was a bad day in the office for ourselves and better performances could have been had," said Scrivens.

"We need to wipe ourselves down and get on with it. Our aim is to try and get that last promotion place in second.

"It's still possible and we're not mathematically out of it."

Outside centre Tindall who plays a selection of matches for the club close to his home caused the visitors problems all day.

His kick deep into the visitor's territory forced a rushed clearance high into the air which prop Matt Jenns powered over for the opening try.

Ross captain Casey Morgan was kicked through and beat Tindall in a foot race to bring his side back to 7-5 at half-time.

After a hard fought match Ross took the lead 10 minutes from time when Aaron Ryder kicked a penalty in front of the posts.

However, Minchinhampton had the last say with a penalty under the posts giving them victory.

"Tindall was a true professional on the pitch and gave a couple of our players some hard hits," added Scrivens.

"He made sure our players were alright before moving onto the next phase of play."

Bromyard moved to the top of Midlands South 4 with a bonus point 30-10 win at Harbury.

Despite conceding an early try Bromyard struck back when prop forward James Leighton crashed over under the posts.

Tom Hulburd added a second on the stroke of half time.

The second half saw scores from George Leighton, Jamie Gibbons and Tom Vaessen to secure the victory.

Greyhound kept their Midland 5 West (North) promotion hopes alive with a 47-28 win at Chaddesley Corbett.

Ali Paton scored a brace of tries while there was one try each for Zach Thompson, Nathan Morris, Mitchell Loughman and Quinton Sneyd.
