ROSS Rugby Club go into this Saturday's game against Gloucester 2 joint leaders Old Elizabethans in fine form having won their last five games.

The Greytree outfit are 10 points behind this weekend's opponents in the race for promotion, but will be confident of gaining another victory.

Last Saturday, Ross beat Old Colstonians, who are top on points difference, 29-16.

The Bristol based side were unbeaten going into the game and started strongly.

Two successfully concerted penalties saw them open up an early 6-0 lead before adding a converted try.

But Ross started to slowly get back into the game.

Josh Element crashed over to reduce the deficit before Ross earned a penalty just before half time.

Ross again set up an unstoppable maul and Element was on hand to go over again.

Aaron Ryder's conversion saw Old Colstonians lead 13-12 at half time.

Ross continued their physical hold on the game after the break and went ahead for the first time when Dan Field brushed aside two tackles to score a try; Ryder adding the extras.

Colstonians reduced the deficit with a penalty before Ryder kicked over a three pointer.

Ross capped a fine performance when winger Craig Smith outpaced the cover defence to score, with Ruder again converting.

Ledbury, meanwhile, went down 38-10 to unbeaten Midlands 3 West (South) leaders Droitwich and have another tough test this weekend when they go to third-placed Evesham.

In Midlands 4 West (South), Bromyard remain second after overcoming Coventrians 7-3.

Captain Sam Sayce was rewarded for his decision making after opting to go for a try instead of a penalty.

Toby Rivers added the conversion.
