GREYHOUND'S Liam Webdale says his team are desperate to get out of Midlands 5 West (North).

The Hereford-based side are in their second season in the lowest division of the Midlands region following relegation in 2015.

And despite losing 11-3 to promotion rivals Tenbury last Saturday, the winger is confident his team can still achieve their aim.

"We've spent a few seasons down here, but we feel we should be playing higher in the league and I feel we've got the squad to do it," said Webdale.

"No one wants to be playing in the bottom division.

"We play for the club to have a good time, but we want to do that while winning.

"Any time you get injured and lose a player, you don't only want 20 players – we want 40 and technically field two teams because we're not going to have everyone available every week.

"We've got a few people who work away and had a couple of people coming back from holiday.

"Having people not available makes it tough, but we've got a very good squad that is growing by the week.

"We've got a lot of competition for places at the moment and we're all trying very hard.

"There's not many weeks where you can guarantee to start, which is great for the club and good for the team."

Webdale was disappointed with the loss against Tenbury, with the two penalties conceded proving costly.

"We really want to get promoted this year, so to lose is a bit annoying," he said.

"Going into the game, we wanted to beat them.

"We didn't get that with a bit of ill-discipline and fumbling the ball, but hopefully we can pick it back up this week.

"We've got a cup game and hopefully we can get a win and get our season back on track."

Greyhound opened the scoring thanks to a penalty from Zack Thompson in the eighth minute after Richard Davies was upended.

But Tenbury grew into the game and drew level after 25 minutes with a penalty of their own, slotted over by Greg Powell.

Shortly afterwards, Greyhound thought they had scored a try through Chris Fisher, but the referee disallowed it.

That spurred Tenbury on and on numerous occasions they showed good footwork, with only their passing letting them down.

However, they did go ahead two minutes after the restart after Greyhound showed more ill-discipline.

Powell was again the man to kick over the penalty to make it 6-3.

Greyhound had a chance to score a try after being awarded a couple of scrums, but Tenbury defended stoutly.

Another penalty was awarded to the away side, but this time Powell missed it.

But a breakaway in the final minute saw Gough score in the corner to seal the win.
