BROMYARD held their nerve to grind out a hard-fought 19-12 victory against county rivals Greyhound at Hereford City Sports Club in the Midlands Junior Vase third round.

Greyhound spokesman Chris Richards said the lower-graded city club showed plenty of spirit and produced their best performance of the season.

Greyhound opened the scoring with an unconverted try from Josh Thompson before the visitors hit back with a touchdown from Toby Rivers which was converted by Jarrod Kidston.

Bromyard increased their advantage by seven points with a breakaway try from Matt Swain.

Greyhound made an immediate response with Liam Webdale crossing the whitewash and Zac Thompson adding the extras.

However, Bromyard struck the decisive blow when John Parker touched down on the stroke of half-time.

Greyhound applied considerable pressure in the second period but the visitors held on to progress to the next round.
