HEREFORD RFC captain Luke Yarranton was left ruing a missed opportunity as his side let slip a lead to draw 23-23 draw against Crewe & Nantwich in Midlands 1 West.

The Wyesiders now face a vital home game against Dudley Kingswinford this Saturday as they attempt to climb the table.

"In parts we were good but we did not put it together," admitted Yarranton.

"We are gutted not to pull in a win when it was on the table for us, the game was there to be won.

"We now have a big game against Dudley Kingswinford.

"We will be putting in that hard work needed to get the result and we know we have it in us.

"I hope we have the usual good crowd to cheer us on."

A rash of forward passes and knock ons proved costly for Hereford, as well as some uncharacteristically bad handling with the ball.

But, the team held their discipline together in a tough game that saw one red and two yellow cards, all given to Crewe & Nantwich.

Morgan Goodall had a great day with the boot, slotting five from five, while Brad Talbot scored Hereford's two tries.

But after going back in front near the end of the game, Crewe hit back to snatch a draw.

Elsewhere, Ledbury lost 43-18 to Midlands 3 West (South) leaders Droitwich, while Bromyard had a home walkover win over Coventrians in Midlands 4 West (South).

in Gloucester 2, Ross-on-Wye fell to a 22-15 home defeat to Old Colstonians.
