WINGER Joe Doyle says Luctonians will be a better side for this Saturday's match at Leicester Lions after coming unstuck against Stourbridge.

The Mortimer Park side lost 49-32 in a pulsating National League Two North game that thrilled the crowd.

But the Lucs faithful were also left pulling out their hair at times because, every time Lucs looked liked they might get back into the game, back came Stourbridge with more tries.

"It's all about scoring tries, but we pride ourselves on our defence and will kick ourselves with that performance," said Doyle.

"But we will address it and, come Saturday, we will be a better side for it.

"It's always been in our plan to get to four phases then strike.

"I think we struggled to get to four phases because of competing at break downs really well, but at first phase, if we can attack wide, then we've got the skill set to do that.

"All the backs scored the tries and the forwards put a massive shift in.

"The scrums and lineouts were at high percentages, which was good.

"Overall, we're down about it, but we'll go away and readdress it and hopefully kick on from here."

Doyle went as far as to say that Luctonians were "naive" at times.

"We let ourselves defensively a little bit with a few lapses," he said.

"It was quite an open game and there were plenty of tries for the spectators, but we weren't really at the races.

"It was disappointing that, after our try, we let them in for soft tries.

"There were times when we looked a bit naive out there considering we've been at this level for a long time now."
