LUCTONIANS director of rugby Alex Davidson is on the lookout for new players as preparations start for the new season.

The Kingsland side finished strongly to finish sixth in 2015/16 and kick off the new campaign with a trip to Sheffield Tigers.

Front row forward Max Mueller has returned to Austria, but Davidson has identified German international Jorn Schroder as a possible replacement.

Davidson is also on the lookout for an "enforcer" in the second row position.

Sebastian Freydell was brought into the side las season, but returned to Austria during the middle of the campaign after a mutual agreement with the club.

Two possible replacements could be another Austrian international in the shape of Stefan Psota and Matthew Hill, who has experience of playing in Australia.

Louis Silver, who was excellent last season with the boot, is staying on at Luctonians and has informed Davidson about a few more additions that could improve the team.

Davidson added that it's important his side start much stronger this season.

“I think we picked up eight points in the first two months, so we need to do better than that this time round," he said.
