HEREFORD Rugby Club completed their home league programme with a 24-six bonus point win over Stoke-on-Trent in Midlands 1 West.

The Wyesiders opened the scoring with a try straight from the kick-off.

A forward driving maul paved the way for a slick handling movement that found Perry Pudge on the left.

He off-loaded the ball to Will Ford, who made no mistake in touching down in the corner.

Stoke reduced the deficit with a penalty kick after the Hereford defence were caught offside, but the home side increased their lead thanks to a Gavin Camozzi try.

Into the second half, Dean Powell was sent off for Hereford following a minor scuffle and Stoke slotted over the resulting penalty.

But the Wyesiders added a third try from Duncan to go further ahead and Ford added the conversion.

Ford then grabbed his second try of the match to ensure Hereford would come away with a bonus point and James Watters added the extras.

Alex Reading made his first team debut for Hereford and made a promising start senior career.

"This was a typical end of season game with nothing depending on the result," said Hereford coach Bob Stewart.

"We shall finish fourth in the league, while Stoke are well above the relegation zone."
