A POOR second half performance saw Hereford lose 22-18 to bogey side Silhillians in Midlands 1 West.

The Wyesiders built up a 13-point lead by half-time, but four tries by the home side in the second half saw them win a dramatic match.

Hereford missed a couple of opportunities to score in the early part of the game before Perry Pudge forced his way over for the first try.

James Watters then increased the Wyesiders' lead with another try after being set up by Gavin Comozzi, making his debut at prop.

Hereford controlled the first half and they went 13-0 up thanks to a Simeon Mifflin penalty.

Early in the second half, Silhillians stepped up a gear and created a gap in the Hereford defence to register a try, which was converted.

Just minutes later, the home side scored again thanks to a fantastic break to reduce Hereford's lead to just one point.

Hereford then had their best period of the second half and a series of driving mauls saw Jock Welch touch down for an unconverted try.

Silhillians reduced the deficit back to one point with a try with 10 minutes to go before the home side sealed the win at the death after their scrum-half touched down.

“I’m disappointed, they were asked at half time to play the corners and to keep close watch on the Sils’ scrum half," said Hereford coach Bob Stewart.

"They did neither and suffered the consequences."
