HEREFORD will need another big win against rivals Worcester Wanderers this Saturday if they are to stand any realistic chance of going up from Midlands 1 West.

The Wyesiders are now fifth in the division after a thumping home win against Kenilworth and face a Worcester side who are fourth.

But Hereford have three games in hand and – and if they win the match, they could start harbouring hopes that they could challenge for second place.

Bournville, who are currently second, host third-placed Stratford-upon Avon in another mouthwatering clash.

"We will need to put in some hard work at training before travelling to play Worcester Wanderers on Saturday," said Hereford coach Bob Stewart.

"We lost some momentum when forced by weather conditions to do our mid-week training at the Leisure Centre, but now we are back training at Wyeside and the benefits are beginning to show in our results.”

Hereford put in another excellent display last Saturday, comfortably beating Kenilworth 45-10 in a match that was rearranged due to an injury to referee Arron Williams in January.

Two yellow cards were issued early in the rearranged fixture, including one to Hereford's Richard Preece for a high tackle.

Hereford took the lead when Luke Yarranton broke from a maul to cross near the posts.

Dean Powell landed the first of five conversions.

Hereford added another converted try thanks to Will Ford to lead 14-3 at the break.

Another touchdown was scored by Morgan Goodall before Kenilworth reduced the deficit with a converted try of their own.

But that was as good as it got for the away side as Richard Preece touched down under the posts for a bonus point try; Powell again converting.

A further three tries were then scored by Callum Duncan, Leon Parsons and Matt Milsom.
