LUCTONIANS will feel they can now look up rather than down in the National League 2 North table following another excellent win.

The Kingsland side have won nine of their last 12 games and have now jumped to 10th place in the division.

They are still four points off the relegation places, but with a game in hand and matches against sides in and around the drop zone, Luctonians should feel confident that they will comfortably stay up.

Their latest success was a 26-24 victory at Harrogate – Luctonians' third successive win on the road.

The scoring began when Harrogate went offside from a Lucs drive and Louis Silver kicked over the penalty.

Geraint Langdon then seized on a loose ball to drive over and extend the lead, before Harrogate got back into the game.

Lewis Minikin went over for a try before adding the conversion.

But, despite offering more attacks, the home side lost possession and Luctonians counter-attacked.

The end result was Josh Watkins outstripping the defence to take Lucs into a 13-7 lead.

Harrogate's chances of getting back into the game were hit when Willem Esnlin was sent to the sin bin just before half-time following a mini fracas.

But they were ahead at the start of the second half when Luke Edwards gathered Danny Matthews' chip for a fine try; Minikin adding the extras.

A penalty by Minikin extended their lead, but Jordan Street's try was quickly followed by a Silver penalty for Lucs.

And John Kelly scored to give them the breathing space they needed before Enslin threatened a grandstand finish with a late try, which Minikin converted.

This Saturday, Lucs host second-from-bottom Broadstreet.
