LEDBURY now have it all top do if they are to gain promotion from Midlands 3 West (South) after losing 23-5 to fellow contenders Evesham.

The Worcestershire side opened their account with a penalty before they extended the scoreline with a try.

Ledbury responded with some positive running and clever play, with fine performances from Steve Humphreys and Jamie Rayfield.

This front foot pressure allowed Ali Park the opportunity to reduce their arrears.

But it was Evesham who ended up running away with the game and scored another 15 unanswered points.

It was better news for Bromyard, who are now joint second in Midlands 4 West (North) thanks to a 24-21 win at Aldridge.

Matt Swain and Fergus Hawkins gave Bromyard an early lead, only to see the home team come back strongly to have the advantage at half time.

After the interval, man-of-the-match Tom Morris scored to reduce arrears and five minutes from time, Ari Liddell crossed for the winning try, which Swain converted.

Greyhound were also celebrating after overcoming Tenbury 20-17 in Midlands 5 West (North).

Tenbury comfortably beat the Hereford side 29-0 the previous week and opened the scoring with a converted try,

But Oli Paton quickly replied with a try of his own before the away side touched down again.

Back came Greyhound, who scored a try through Joel Jones before Zachary Thompson converted Matt Eden's touchdown.

Tenbury levelled the game with a try, but an Ali Paton drop goal saw Greyhound home.

This Saturday, the ladies, veterans and men's sides are all in action at City Sports Club, with games starting from 12.30pm.

Ross-on-Wye went down 38-10 to Gloucester Spartans in Gloucester 2.

Casey Morgan scored Ross' only try, with Marcus Ballinger adding five extra points with the boot.
