GREYHOUND Ladies had to settle for a draw against Tewkesbury in their first competitive after having two tries disallowed.

The team had seen games postponed at the end of last year, but took a strong outfit to Gloucestershire.

And they were rewarded for their hard work, with Claire Higginson using her strength to drive over the line.

There was then a long stoppage, which left Greyhound without one of their seasoned players.

The home side then levelled the game with a try of their own and called for uncontested scrums, which stifled Greyhound's powerful pack.

With two tries disallowed, the visitors felt aggrieved, but settled for a draw.

The men's team also came away with a draw last weekend in their Midlands 5 West (North) encounter at Stourport.

The home side dominated the first half, but Greyhound were much stronger after the break.

In-form centre Ali Paton grabbed their first try after spotting a gap in the defence following a period of forward play, before Greyhound scored again.

This time, Elliot Phillips powered from the half-way line to touch down, taking several defenders with him.

Mikey Weaver converted both tries, meaning Greyhound came away with a 14-14 draw.

The two points gained leaves Greyhound on 27 points and third in the division, albeit 13 points adrift of St Leonards, who are second.

This Saturday, the Hereford side make the short trip to Tenbury, who are just one point worse off.

The match signals the start of back-to-back games between the two sides.
