CAPTAIN Rob Anscomb hopes Ross Road will provide a home comfort for Ledbury this weekend after they came unstuck at Southam in Midlands 3 West (South).

Ledbury, who went into the game top of the division, lost 24-0 and have dropped to second place.

But the county side have scored 103 points in their last two home games and will be gunning for more when they entertain Cheltenham North.

“We had quite a few key players missing, like Matt Hallett, who has been scoring most of our tries, and Arron Almond,” said Anscomb.

“We were up against a good side, but we just couldn’t get over the try line and they beat us fair and square.

“But I think everyone likes playing at Ross Road, because it’s a nice, wide pitch, which suits our game.

“It’s a bit of a derby against Cheltenham, so hopefully we can get back to winning ways.”

Anscomb believes his side can still get promoted this season.

“We said at the start of the season that we were go for promotion and we had some good wins on the bounce, including wins against teams who are up there with us,” said Anscomb.

“But we lost to Old Coventrians, who are the league leaders and probably favourites to go up, and away to Old Leamingtonians.

“It’s so tight though and a really competitive league.”

Bromyard only had a Tom Morris try to show for their efforts as they went down 32-5 to Midlands 4 West (North) leaders Uttoxeter.
