WELSH rugby legend Shane Williams will be be casting his eye over this years Six Nations in Ross-on-Wye next month.

Williams, who played 87 times for Wales, scoring a record 58 tries, guest speaker at a special Six Nations preview business lunch at the Chase Hotel on Thursday, February 4.

“I am really looking forward to visiting Ross-on-Wye on February 4 for this Six Nations Preview Lunch,” said Williams, who also holds the record for the most tries for Wales in both the Six Nations and the Rugby World Cup.

“I know from my time playing that this part of the world is a rugby hotbed so it should be a great event.

I am really excited about this season’s Six Nations. It was a disappointing World Cup for the Northern Hemisphere sides so it will be interesting to see how they all react.

“Following the last two World Cups, Wales have delivered a Grand Slam so eyes will be on them whilst England and France both have new coaches who will be keen to make their mark.

“Ireland play Wales first and will be set on retaining their title, whereas Scotland were just a controversial refereeing decision away from the semi-finals of the World Cup so will want to take that form into the tournament opening with a home fixture against England."

Helen Hartery-Brown, director of the business lunch organisers, Aitch and Aitch Bee Events Ltd, added: “Following his distinguished career on the rugby pitch, Shane has gained an equally impressive reputation as a speaker and we can’t wait to hear what he has to say.

“We are sure it is going to be a marvellous event.

“We are also delighted to confirm that we will once again be supporting the outstanding work of St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford with a raffle and silent auction at the event.”

The event will run from noon until 4pm, with tickets still available.
