FORMER Luctonians player Howard Meredith has died, aged 77.
The eldest of three brothers, Meredith helped build the successful team who played in the 1960s and '70s.
After leaving Lucton School, Meredith was conscripted into the Old Luctonians Rugby Club where he played full-back.
His playing days ended in all sports when he sustained a depressed fracture of the right side of his skull following a clash of heads while playing against Hereford at Rockfield Road. Meredith, who joined Luctonians in 1954, also captained the club's cricket team that won the Knock-out competition and played for Leominster for a number of years.
