GREYHOUND claimed a bonus point win against Tenbury in their first game in Midlands 5 West (North).

The Hereford side, who were relegated along with Tenbury last season, scored first through an Elliot Phillips try after four minutes that was converted by Matt Eden.

Tenbury then slotted over a penalty a few minutes later before scoring again after 34 minutes.

A combination of forwards and backs play led to captain Oli Paton going over in the corner.

Eden again successfully converted to put Greyhound 11 points clear.

But a Tenbury try shortly before half-time reduced the deficit.

The away side then went in front for the first time with a converted try, but back came Greyhound who went ahead after Phillips broke through to over the line.

The home side then went further in front through Phillips' third of the game with Eden again slotting over the extra points.

Tenbury did get another try but Greyhound held on for a 26-20 win.

Bromyard opened their Midlands 4 (North) campaign with a 37-24 win against Rugeley.

Former Greyhound player Matt Swain converted a penalty to put his new side ahead before he converted John Parker's try.

Three quick tries from Rob Legge, Gareth Griffiths and Greg Leighton extended Bromyard's lead further before Rugeley struck back with three of their own.

But Bromyard regained control with Leighton scoring again.

Ledbury came through a thrilling game against Rugby Lions in Midlands 3 West (South) by winning 35-31, but Ross-on-Wye went down 18-0 to Broad Plain in Gloucester 2.
