HEREFORD ran in 12 tries in a 78-7 thrashing of SWALEC League 3 club Monmouth in their last pre-season game.

Connor Sullivan gave the Wyesiders an early lead before further tries followed from Tom Slater, Sean Day, Josh Yarranton and Nat Thomas.

Four conversions from Dean Powell and Matt Milsom gave Hereford a 38-0 half-time lead.

Monmouth then scored a consolation try but Hereford's try fest continued with Thomas, Leon Parsons 93), Mark Philo and Fran Jennings all going over, with Powell and Milson sharing five conversions.

Hereford are in North Midlands Cup action this Saturday when they face Whitchurch before opening their Midlands 1 West campaign against Silhillians.

"We are now developing cover for all positions and competition for first team places will be fierce," said Hereford head coach Bob Stewart.

"The enthusiasm in the squad is great and we are all looking forward to the coming season with confidence.

"I take particular pleasure in the performances from prop Lagi Baudromo, whose scrummaging strength could win him a first team place.

"We have a number of injury problems, which include Gareth Jones, Mark Philo and Callum Duncan, as well as influential centre Tom Ewins, who will be out of action for several months.”

Hereford press officer Rob Davies added that the new additions at Wyeside have made an impact in the warm-up games, including back row forward Lloyd Wilcocks, scrum-half Fran Jennings and backs Craig Rowlett and Simeon Mifflin.

"Lloyd is an experienced back rower who has joined from Oxford Harlequins, a South West Division 1 East team and Fran Jennings is a young scrum half, a regular last season in Luctonians second string. Craig Rowlett and Simeon Mifflin are both Hereford developed youngsters, who have returned to the fold after a number of seasons away.
