JAMES Scott became only the fourth pupil from the Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School since to be capped by England Schools as he starred in their Under-16 game against Wales.

The 6ft 6ins lock came on at half-time when England were 15-0 ahead.

The only other Bishop's School pupils who have earned full caps are Nick Stubbs, Ollie Frost and George Bee, with Stubbs' appearance coming in the last under-15 game played in Cardiff in 1974.

England had four players from North Midlands in their team at the Centre of Sporting Excellence in Caerphilly, which is a record for the region after starting up in 1987.

The strong England front five, led by Scott, were phenomenal and pushed the Welsh scrum back on several occasions.

England eventually won the game 33-0.

Meanwhile, Greyhound narrowly went down 54-48 to London Irish in a friendly game to mark the death of soldier Paul McAleese.

Serjeant McAleese died in 2009 while on duty in Afghanistan and last Saturday's game in Sunbury was the fifth Paul McAleese memorial ground.

Both teams failed to produce a full team, with Greyhound playing with 11 and London Irish with 13.

The game was played at speed, with neither side giving an inch, with Greyhound unlucky not to earn a draw.

Matt Eden, Michael Weaver and Oli Paton all bagged two tries each for Greyhound, with Ed Howarth and Joel Jones getting one apiece.

Payton also converted two tries, with Eden kicking over another,

This Sunday, Greyhound will host the Steve Tobin Memorial game, which will kick off at 1pm.
