LUCTONIANS' survival hopes still hang by a thread after they could only draw against Chester at Mortimer Park today.

The Kingsland side are only out of the National League 2 North drop zone by one point with just two games left to play.

They travel to Otley to face Harrogate next Saturday before hosting Leicester Lions on the final day of the season on April 25.

Their other relegation rivals, Birmingham & Solihull and Hull, both lost today, as did Preston Grasshoppers and Leicester Lions, who are also not out of danger.

Luctonians twice led against Chester, but errors led to the away side getting back into the game and in the end, they had to settle for a point.

Geraint Langdon kicked over a penalty to put Lucs ahead in the 19th minute before Carwyn Lloyd-Williams slotted one over for Chester five minutes later.

Luctonians regained their lead 13 minutes into the second half after Will Burton went over for a try, which Langdon converted.

But they could not increase their lead and it was Chester who levelled the game with 10 minutes to go after Lloyd-Williams converted Tom Foden's try.

Meanwhile, Hereford's play-off hopes in Midlands 1 West are over after they went down 26-7 to Silhillians.

That result, coupled with Worcester Wanderers beating Leek, mean that the Wyesiders are eight points off second spot with only one game left to play.

Ledbury beat Pershore 59-22 in Midlands 3 West (South).
