KICKING sensation Louis Silver says he could stay at Luctonians next season.

The scrum half has been on fire for the Kingsland side after joining on loan from Coventry and has been key to the team's resurgence in form.

"I am on loan from Coventry, so I suppose if someone got back injured there I could get drafted back, but as I see it I'm here until the end of the season," said Silver.

"I am living at Cardiff and am at university, so there is quite a bit of travelling but there is potential to stay here next season.

"The standard of rugby is a lot better than I thought it would be and there are some really good players here."

Silver started his career at Mortimer Park as a mini junior, before going to star for Worcester, Bristol, Doncaster and Coventry.

He says Luctonians is his home though and he was happy to return.

"It was my first club, so I was happy to come back and help," said Silver.

"I was at Bristol, Doncaster and Coventry, but this has always been home."

Silver's boot has been lethal for Luctonians, with his astonishing 31 points helping his side claim a vital win against National 2 North relegation rivals Birmingham & Solihull.

He was also on the scoresheet during Lucs' 22-7 win against Preston Grasshoppers, scoring 12 of their points, including a try that he converted himself.

But he was only promoted to kicking duties after Geraint Langdon was unavailable for Silver's first game.

"I have never really kicked before this season, so to come in and do a job is really pleasing.

"I kick quite well, so just carried on from there."

Luctonians director of rugby Alex Davidson says he has been delighted with Silver's performances.

"A lot of clubs at our level get grief for bringing in dual registration players, but Louis was here as a mini junior player so it's nice to benefit from his return," said Davidson.

"Having a tried and tested boot in the team makes all the difference."

Silver's first opportunity to show his kicking prowess came after only four minutes, but his penalty went wide of the posts.

But he made amends 12 minutes later when he converted Jordan Street's try.

Luctonians dominated the early exchanges, but Preston got back into the game when Lewis Allen converted his own try.

The home side restored their lead five minutes later thanks to a Silver penalty from a difficult angle.

Lucs were awarded another penalty just before half-time, but Silver could not convert.

The start of the second half was a tight affair, with both teams knowing the importance of the game.

But Luctonians did get on the scoresheet after 58 minutes and extended their lead to 13 points.

Pressure by the home side led to Will Burton freeing winger Adam Knight, who grabbed a fantastic try.

Silver failed to convert it, but he added more points when he went over six minutes later.

He easily kicked over the conversion this time and there was no way back for Preston Grasshoppers.
