LOUIS Silver’s boot has given Luctonians a fantastic chance of staying in National 2 North after they comfortably beat relegation rivals Birmingham & Solihull.

The Mortimer Park side are now off the drop zone following the 41-22 win with five matches remaining.

Their success was down in no small part to Louis Silver, who kicked over nine penalties and two conversions. He got on the scoresheet after just two minutes with a penalty before Adam Canning cancelled it out.

But Silver was on fire, slotting over four more penalties before Jordan Street scored a try, which Silver converted.

Birmingham hit back with an Ian Briggs try before Silver kicked over two more penalties.

Lucs faltered slightly after the break, allowing the home side to grab two tries from Stefan Thorp and Chris Goddard, which were converted.

Silver’s boot again came to Lucs’ rescue though.

He first kicked over two more penalties before converting Zac Watkins’ try.

Luctonians are three points above the relegation zone going into this Saturday’s home fixture against Preston Grasshoppers.

Three teams go down, with bottom club Stockport already doomed.
