Bromyard 48 Yardley and District 24

BROMYARD ran in eight tries for the second successive week as they opened their home Midlands Four West (North) programme with a convincing win.

Rob Legge opened the scoring for the home team only for Connor to level before John Parker struck back with a try to restore the lead.

Man-of-the-match John Pudge went over for a third try with Chris Rowberry's conversion extending the advantage.

Bromyard conceded a penalty for offside but stormed further ahead before the turnaround with second tries for both Legge and Parker.

Dan Moss replied for Yardley but the pacy Steve Barrett selflessly set up a score for hooker Joe Williams which Barrett converted.

Bromyard were now in full flight and Pudge created a gap for Parker to celebrate his hat-trick. Yardley found some consolation when Brocklebank touched down but a Tom Morris try converted by Toby Rivers underlined Bromyard's superiority.

Greyhound, in contrast, began their home campaign with a 34-19 defeat by Rugeley, despite leading at the interval.

Mikey Weaver's early try was converted by Matt Swain with Elliott Phillips also crossing after a Rugeley penalty.

The visitors scored two quick tries after the break and although Swain scored a third Greyhound try, 17 Rugeley points in 20 minutes decided the outcome.

Ledbury beat Shipston on Stour to notch their first Midlands Three West (South) win of the season, while Ross are two from two in Gloucester Two after winning 21-13 at Cotham Park.
