Bredon Star 19 Ross on Wye 3
A WEAKENED Ross side held their own in the first period before being defeated by the Gloucester Two leaders.
But the South Herefordshire side were not assisted by some controversial refereeing decisions which saw seven yellow cards, six of them to Ross players, brandished in the second period.
A penalty from Craig Powell put Ross ahead but infringements brought two penalties for the home side which allowed them to take the lead at the break.
Ross were out of luck at the start of the second period when a promising move saw a fortunate rebound from an intercepted pass bounce up into a Bredon defender's hand and allowed a breakaway try.
With Ross down to 13 players for much of the period due to yellow cards, Bredon pressed home their numerical advantage and added two more penalties to secure victory.
Ben Chapman, one of the contingent of young Ross players, was named man of the match.
Herefordshire's two representatives in Midlands Four West (North) were both defeated.
Bromyard turned in a creditable performance before being beaten 32-26 by leaders Harborne.
Greyhound, who raised hopes with a win over Bromyard the previous week, slipped back into relegation danger near the foot of the table with a 33-7 home defeat by Cannock.
