Pegasus Juniors 2 Sporting Khalsa 0.

PEGASUS maintained their promising pre-season form with an opening day West Midlands League Premier Division success.

There were chances at both ends in an entertaining first half which ended goalless although Sam Whitehirst and Scott Sandland both hit the side-netting for the visitors.

Just after the re-start, Juniors went ahead when Jimmy Moreton deceived the Khalsa defence from a free-kick with the ball finding the net at the near post.

Excellent defensive work by Josh Wildig and Paul Allam kept things tight at the back for the home side who completed their win five minutes from time when Chris Mortlock’s cross was powered in at the far post by Cory Hyde’s right-foot drive.

Wellington 3 Dudley Town 6.

CARETAKER-managers Marc Priday and Andy Price suffered a fiery baptism when their side conceded six to visiting Dudley.

Wellington were in difficulties early on when Josh James put through his own net to give Town the lead and they had doubled their advantage by the interval.

Dudley were in control after extending their lead again early in the second period and although Wellington scored through Ben Fischer (2) and a Nick Panniers penalty, they ended well beaten.

“Our management team did a good job in getting the team together and on to the pitch but there is no doubt that we have been disrupted,” said Wellington chairman Phil Smith. “We have had some interest in the manager’s job but anyone who is interested in discussing it can call me on 01432 830096 or 0770324098.”

l Bromyard Town were also on the wrong end of a nine-goal encounter when they travelled to Darlaston Town and were beaten 6-3.
