Pegasus preparing for a big challenge in new competition

PEGASUS Juniors’ assistant-boss Marc Jarvis has praised the players who stuck by the club during their darkest hours.

New challenges lie ahead for the Old School Lane outfit, as they prepare for their West Midlands League PremierDivisionbow.

Pegasus had a traumatic campaign last season - Adie Morgan was the club’s fourth first-team boss as they finished bottom of the Hellenic League Premier Division.

But the Hereford club have since transferred to the West Midlands setup and can now look forward to league derbies with Wellington and Bromyard.

“Throwing in the towel last season was not an option and the lads who were loyal and stuck by us were fantastic,” said Jarvis, who became Morgan’s assistant in October.

“Jack Frost was a big player for us last year and helped us regroup during the bad weather,”

hesaid.

“People like Joel Skyers came in and did very well for us and we need to praise the lads who chose to stick with us during a difficult period.”

Jarvis has played in West Midlands League pyramid and is a former assistant to Derek Williams at Wellington.

“It will be a learning curve for our players because a lot of them have never played in the WestMidlandsLeague.

“We will have a lot of new places to visit and it’s all about the stability of the club.

“The top five or six teams in the West Midlands League would definitely compete in the Hellenic League.

“When I was helping Derek you could see there were some good footballing sides in the league.”

Jarvis added: “We’ll have derby matches against Wellington, Bewdley and Bromyard and our furthest away gameis atShawbury.

“Local derbies are what league football is all about and I am sure there will be a lot of interest in our results next season.”

Meanwhile, Pegasus have been handed a tough home draw against Bewdley Town, on August 20, in the FA Cuppreliminary round.

The winners of the tie will travel to face Market Drayton in the first qualifying round of the competition.

Pegasus’ FA Vase campaign begins with a trip to Dudley Sports on September 10 and the winners can look forward to a home tie against Highgate or BewdleyTown.
