Late equaliser deprives Hyde of winning reward

12:46pm Thursday 24th April 2008

Bicester Town 2 Pegasus Juniors 2 BICESTER hit a late equaliser to salvage a draw in this scrappy match in the Premier Division of the Sport Italia Hellenic League.

Bicester went in front in the 13th minute when a misunderstanding between Andy Mowen and Lee Mussell allowed Andy Styles to score.

Pegasus could have levelled from the kick-off after Ben Price collected a Cory Hyde flick-on only to flash his shot wide.

Hyde forced Tom McNamara into action with a neat save before Richard Harrison hammered a 25-yard snap-shot which McNamara brilliantly tipped away.

Pegasus deservedly drew level in the 42nd minute when, after Price seemed to be fouled inside the area, Hyde drilled home a shot from six yards.

The Hereford club took the lead in the 54th minute after Rob Laurie sprayed the ball to Simon Gwynne on the left flank.

Gwynne jinked into the penalty area and found Hyde who netted from close-range.

Pegasus almost hit a third when Chris Mortlock’s effort was tipped away by the agile McNamara and then a neat move ended with Price shooting over.

The visitors changed their style of play and allowed Bicester to dictate proceedings.

It proved costly because Bicester hit the equaliser when a header from Robbins fell into the path of Styles who bundled the ball past goalkeeper Stuart Turpin.
