3:05pm Thursday 10th April 2008

Hungerford Town 2 Pegasus Juniors 0

A GOAL in each half sentenced Pegasus to defeat against the high-fliers in the Premier Division of the Sport Italia Hellenic League.

Hungerford struggled to break down a Pegasus side who were forced to replace six players from the starting line-up in midweek.

The home side eventually took the lead in first-half stoppage-time when Mark McMeeking struck a shot into the top corner from 20 yards.

The second half was a much closer affair with the home team once again having the lion’s share of possession.

Jamie Gosling should have extended Hungerford’s advantage on the hour but his attempted lob was well caught by Pegasus goalkeeper Stuart Turpin.

Pegasus had the advantage of the slope in the second half without seriously threatening a home defence well marshalled by Nick McCrae.

The home side increased their lead in the 72nd minute through the prolific Ian Concannon, who notched his 42nd goal of the campaign.

Pegasus could have crumbled but Ben Price went close to pulling a goal back.

l A 57th minute equaliser from Rob Laurie helped Pegasus claim a 1-1 draw at Hook Norton in the Premier Division on Tuesday night. Hook Norton took the lead through Spiero in the 50th minute but Pegasus hit back to level.
