PEGASUS Juniors assistant manager Kevin Bethell was pleased with how his team fared against Hereford.

"I think we got out of the game what we expected," said Bethell.

"We played very well I thought in the first 15 minutes but probably towards the end of the game we ran out of legs a little bit which is why we made as many changes as we did.

"But in general I think we can very proud of our performance and is something we can take us through to the start of the season.

"I wish Hereford all the very best because building a new club and side is quite exciting and that is probably the reason behind the big crowd."

This was only Pegasus' third pre-season friendly due to games against Tuffley Rovers and Harrow Hill being called off.

The West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division side have brought in a few players though, including bringing back some former players.

"We have got a lot of boys who have joined us recently and a lot of young lads, with a few more to come," said Bethell.

"We have brought through one or two that played for us in the youth team two seasons ago, players like Josh Hawkins, Joel Beeston and Josh Rogers have come back and playing first team football.

"Unfortunately we have had a poor pre-season in as much as we haven't been able to get games on.

"We have had two games called off so we've only played one official fixture and one last minute fixture.

"We drew 1-1 and lost a game at the start of the season when we were 2-0 up, but brought a lot of young lads on who were inexperienced and lost 3-2."

Cory Hyde is also back after missing last season through injury.

Hyde formed a lethal partnership with Chris Mortlock two years ago that saw Pegasus miss out on promotion by just one point.

"Cory has had a difficult time with his injury, but I think that is coming together now and it was nice to get him out there and have a runaround," said Bethell.

"I think he needs a little bit of match fitness, but that will be gained over the coming weeks."
