WINGER Kiea Cowley has been hailed as a “fantastic signing” for Pegausus Juniors by his manager Chris Hyde.

Cowley arrived at Pegasus towards the end of last season from Bartestree as a striker and has since been converted to a winger.

“Cowley’s absolutely fantastic - he played up front for Bartestree and we wanted him to play left side and for him to play 20 minutes at left back today was brilliant,” he said.

Along with strikers Danny Hill and Sam Pearson, who himself is a recent arrival from Leominster, will be responsible for replacing the goals of Cory Hyde.

Chris Hyde said: “It’s not his goals we need to replace but it’s the style of his and Chris Mortlock’s play.

“We don’t need all 48 goals that Cory got - we need to replace some of winners he scored.”

Cowley has scored four goals from his left wing position and is the clubs top league goal scorer along with Sam Pearson.

Cowley said: “I played with Chris and Cory last year but you can only just work without them and I think we’re doing alright so far.”

Cowley added he moved to Pegasus to play at a high standard and is enjoying his new role within the side.

“Things weren’t working out at Bartestree and I moved here to play a better standard,” he said.

“Playing down the left is sort of new to me but I’ll do a job anywhere, I played up front at Bartestree last year and scored a few goals.”
