AN efficient performance saw the home side brush off the Christmas cobwebs and extend their West Midlands League Premier Division winning streak to nine on the bounce.

Having not played for four weeks it wasn’t a surprise that Pegasus started the game slowly.

The city side found themselves one down after just nine minutes as a Ricky Nicholls free kick found its way through the wall and past the diving Bryn Watkins in the Pegasus goal.

However, the goal seemed to shake the home team into life and, from that moment on, they never really looked in any trouble and it wasn’t long before Ben Price slid in the equaliser following a headed knock-down from Chris Mortlock.

The home fans had barely time to stop celebrating before their team went 2-1 up; a superb through ball from Ben Price found Richard Harrison, who neatly rounded the goalkeeper before sliding the ball home.

Some superb goalkeeping for the visitors kept the scoreline the same until the stroke of half-time when Harrison added his second after brilliantly controlling a long ball over the top before slotting past the despairing Sam Arnold in the visitors goal.

Pegasus dominated the second half in the same vain as the first but yet again found Arnold in some inspired form, most notably denying Harrison the chance of a hat-trick with two top drawer saves.

However, the misses didn’t count as Pegasus played out the remaining minutes comfortably to seal the much-needed three points as they look to catch the teams above them in the race for promotion.
