Hereford triathletes take on the best in Vitoria, Spain

HEREFORD Triathalon Club are on a high after seeing five of their members compete against some of the world’s best amateur athletes during the world age group triathalon championships in Vitoria, Spain.

Tens of thousands of people turned out to watch competitors from all over the globe swim four kilometeres, cycle 120 kilometres and then run a further 30 kilometres.

Stuart Austin performed well in his age group finishing 53rd with a time of 7 hours 28 minutes while Kylie Mansfield, first British woman in her age group, finished 10th in 7.39.

Nicola Goodwin finished 13th in her age group in 7.48 while Susan Pugh, who was also competing for the Royal Air Force, finished 18th in her age group.

Claire Hebblethwaite completed her round in 8.05 and finished 20th in her category to end a good competition for the club.
