Boxing: Wye gym proves a hit

CLUBS from all over the Midlands and south Wales came to take part in a training session at Hinton-based Wye ABC’s packed gym.

“We have these sessions throughout the season to sharpen up our competition boxers to make sure they are ready for competitive bouts,” said head coach Del Strachan.

More than 40 boxers were matched and given the opportunity to test their skills in a competitive atmosphere.

Hereford boxers Kylob Holland, Niall Penson, Jack Chambers and Jake Mc- Nally opened the event, followed by senior boxers Oliver Wright, Lee Jenkins, Bradley Meek, Tshawn White while Floyd Woodrow finished off with the heavyweights.

“Hereford is a hotspot of boxing talent at the moment and this is due to all the hard work of Del Strachan and the coaches at the club,” said Tenbury Boxing Club’s head coach Paddy Brennan.

Four Hereford boxers have been selected to box on the Tenbury boxing show on May 25. To book tickets, call 07904 396465.
