United Pack point to point set for Brampton Bryan

THANKS to the careful preparation of the course at Brampton Bryan by Wayne Tuffin and Richard Bebbington, the United Pack point-to-point this Saturday has received a very healthy 136 entries.

The Herefordshire village has been the scene of some historic battles down the ages –even since Roman times, and there will certainly be some epic clashes on the seven-race card.

The multiple winning Ladies race specialist, Chestnut Annie, who has won 5 out of 5 in 2012 is amongst the entries, but the locals, notably Upton Springs returning from a short lay-off, will not be letting the legendary mare have it all her own way.

Wayne Tuffin will be putting his clerk-of-the-course duties on hold for the final race of the afternoon to watch Family Guy contest the Member’s Race. “I’ve got a ‘leg’ in him with friends, and we have a lot of fun –he was second at Eyeton on Easter Monday, so fingers crossed!” said Wayne, who is a true point-to-point enthusiast.

The course at Brampton Bryan (SY7 0JT) is situated between Leintwardine and Knighton on the A4113. Entrance to the course is £10 per person, under 16’s free, and the price of a racecard has been dropped to £2.

The flag will drop to set the runners off for their gallop across the beautiful riverside farmland at 1.30pm
