Sue Underwood wins top award for Herefordshire Motor Club

SUE Underwood carried off the award for best overall club member when Herefordshire Motor Club made their presentations at their annual dinner-dance at Leominster Golf Club.

Underwood was presented with the Leominster MC&CC Challenge Trophy with Caroline Wilks, who was in second position, receiving the Weobley Challenge Cup.

Chairman Len Evans, who finished third, received the Birley Challenge Trophy.

Other award winners were Pat Pugh who carried off the Ladies’ Challenge Trophy for best lady member while Gillian Powell collected the Diane Challenge Cup as runner-up in the category.

Andrew Burton won the Hall’s Pork Shop Trophy for furthering the name of Herefordshire Motor Club.

Burton was also presented with the Hi-Fi Trophy, for best Peugeot, and the Bengry Motors Challenge Cup, which he received jointly with co-driver Robin Kellard for best performance on Welsh rallies.

Perpetual awards for drivers were presented to Darren Underwood (Best Vauxhall), Jay Stanley (Best Ford), Nigel Griffiths (Best 4WD) and Alastair Moffatt (Best Austin Rover).

Moffatt was classed as best performance on off-road events for his Autotest skills, while Kellard was rewarded with the Paul Watkins Memorial Award for achieving the BTRDA title as a co-driver.

Graham Powell was the best driver on club events.

Ian Mason and Dean Davies took the Bengry Challenge Trophy for the best performance on Welsh road rallies while Gerald Watkins received the Night Owl Trophy for best marshal.

Karen Phelps, Tom Magnay and Tal England received trophies as best newcomers to the club and the Best Junior awards went to Hannah Martin and Lewis Mason.

Phil Martin took the award for best performance on all club-organised events and Jamie Hales won best HMC member in the Inter-Club Karting Championship.

Mike Pugh won the 2011 10-pin bowling challenge with Adam Wilks successful in the Clive Mapp Memorial Award for a dual event of karting and 10-pin bowling.

Geoff and Fran Hall were presented with a merit award in recognition of their contribution to the club.

A raffle raised more than £150 for the County Air Ambulance.
