MOTORCYCLE ace Chaz Davies admits he’s nervous but excited about his Superbike World Championship debut later this month.
The Kinsham rider has flown out to Australia this week for testing ahead of the opening round in Phillip Island on February 26.
“I have got a new bike and it will be pretty stiff opposition and there will be riders with years and years of experience at this level,” he said.
“It’s a bike but the only thing that stays the same are the wheels and handlebars. It’s going to be difficult and there’s bound to be a few nerves but it’s very exciting.”
Chaz, who celebrated his 25th birthday last Friday, has had a memorable four months since winning the World Supersport Championship title at Magny-Cours in France.
He was the surprise winner of the 2011 BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year.
And there will be more silverware for Chaz next Tuesday when he’s crowned Herefordshire Sport’s 2011 Male Sports Personality of the Year.
