Race-walker Tasha Webster wins Hereford Times Ted Woodriffe award

THIS year’s Hereford Times Ted Woodriffe award goes to international race-walker Tasha Webster.

The award, introduced on the retirement of the paper’s late sports editor in 1991, marks the outstanding achievements of a young sportsperson during the previous 12 months.

John Masefield High School pupil Webster, the first race-walker to win the award, has enjoyed an outstanding 12 months.

She is ranked number one in the U17 age group at 1km, 2km, 3km, 5km and 10km and won the 5km National Championship.

Webster, who is also Herefordshire Sport’s Junior Female award winner, has represented England at events in Ireland and Wales where she finished second on both occasions.

Her next target is to gain selection for England for the World Youth Championships in Russia.
