Fine battle ends series

HEREFORD Wheelers concluded their 10-mile Time Trial series with an epic battle on the Allensmore circuit course where it began in April.

This was the fifth visit to the Allensmore course this year and with an excellent turnout of 49 riders it confirms its popularity. Weather for the evening was dry with only a hint of a breeze.

Wheeler members Ian Rivers and Jon Tetley battled with each other right up to the line to be separated by only one second. Tetley took the victory in a time of 22 minutes and 47 seconds. Alex Haines dropped back to third in a time of 23 minutes and 35 seconds with Climb on Bikes rider Richard Lambert following, seven seconds behind.

Nine ladies signed on the start sheet for this rolling course with the best performance coming from Tri Club member Nicola Goodwin who finished in a time of 27 min 31 secs. Second place was a tough battle between Wheelers members Gaby McDermott and Alison Hall with McDermott just winning by four seconds at the line.

The Open Competition has been won by Ian Rivers with a full 50 points from all 10 of the qualifying rounds. In the Ladies Competition, Alison Hall has fought hard to take first place.

The top 5 riders: 1 Jon Tetley 22.47, 2 Ian Rivers 22.48, 3 Alex Haines 23.35, 4 Richard Lambert 23.42, 5 George Burgess 24.17.

The top 5 riders Ladies: 1 Nicola Goodwin 27.31, 2 Gaby McDermott 28.26, 3 Alison Hall 28.30, 4 Sarah Lloyd-Stephens 28.58, 5 Linda White 29.05.

This (Thursday) evening is the Haugh Wood Hill Climb at 7pm.
