TRISH Clews and her guest Jenny Oakland (Herefordshire) accumulated 42 Stableford points to take the top prize at a successful ladies invitation day at Burghill Valley.
Glenda Sandford and her guest Pat Sullivan (Monmouth) scored 40 points to take second place on countback from Ann Midwinter and Jane Spink (Herefordshire).
The nearest-the-pin prizes went to Hazel Sockett on the third, Joan Dukes on the 12th and Jan Bowen on the 18th.
q Lesley Meredith, 106-36-70, won The Grove’s Ladies LGU August Medal on countback from Susan Roberts, 106-36-70.
Deborah Fearnley, with 116-36-80, finished in third place.
q Brockington Hall’s well-contested RNIB competition resulted in a win for Mary Parker with a nett 32 points.
Janet Parker (30) was third with Margaret Keyte (28) in third place.
There was a close finish in the Ladies Invitation, which was played as a greensome, medal format.
Shelagh Snell and Alison Dearden from The Grove were first on 71½, followed the another Grove pairing Lesley Furlong and Bridget Halpern (73½), who took second place on countback from Maureen Brodie and Kim Armitage, with Cathy Scarlett and Barbra O’Sullivan fourth with 74.
The longest drive was won by Dorothy Green while Barbara Morris took the Nearest the Pin prize.
The August Stableford was abandoned due to heavy rain but Janet Parker, 101-27-74, won the August Medal from Lesley Furlong, 103-27-76, Shelagh Snell, 120-35-75 and Jean Griffiths, 119-26-93.
