LEOMINSTER made sure of this year’s Tarmac Bowls League Championship when they won on all four rinks at Kingsland.
With only three defeats this year, they are now 38 points clear of St Martin’s in second place, who lost at home to Llandrindod by three shots when they completed their League programme.
But St Martin's have assured themselves of a place in the top three by picking up league points for two drawn rinks and winning a third in a close-fought match with Llandrindod.
Llandrindod, in turn, now have the chance of the runners-up berth to overtake St Martin’s at the top of the table as they play off their remaining four league matches in their first season in the Tarmac League.
Leominster completed the double over Kingsland as they powered to a convincing win.
They outscored the home club two shots to one with a 58-shot win that doubled the home club’s total of 58 shots.
Brian Cade skipped Leominster’s most successful four to a 40-13 win which was well backed up by the fours skipped by John Harris and Tracy Powell that both won by 13 shots. Only R Turner’s Kingsland four stayed in touch with their opponents but they eventually had to concede their game by five shots.
RESULTS: Hereford 74 Llandrindod Wells 78 Home Rinks (W1 D0 L3), Kingsland 58 Leominster 116 (W0 D0 L4), St Martin's 83 Kingsland 66 (W2 D0 L2), St Martin's 72 Llandrindod Wells 75 (W1 D2 L1).
