ROSS regatta festival weekend was even blessed with great weather as the South Herefordshire club continued to dazzle on and off the water.
On the water, Ross won a remarkable 21 events over the four regattas that took place this weekend. This incredible performance resulted in the club taking a clean sweep in the Junior Victor Ludorum competitions.
The club linked up with the Gloucester regatta, which took place on Saturday and Sunday, to decide these prizes.
Ross’ first success was in the the Brian Nelson / Doc Budd Challenge Trophy for the most successful Junior squad which the club won, beating their closest rivals from Reading Rowing Club. This result was testament to the depth and strength of the highly-regarded Junior Academy.
The second competition, run again with Gloucester, was for the most successful club overall and the prize this time was a brand new sculling boat.
It was somewhat surprising for Ross to win this bigger event as the club restricts the entry of their members at their own regatta, so meaning they had a much smaller chance of being successful.
Nevertheless, the club’s strong performance at Gloucester regatta and their own Junior Veteran, supplemented by four wins at their senior regatta, resulted in Ross pipping Llandaff and Dart Totnes to the title.
