EASTNOR’S Val Pedlingham won two titles and achieved a runners-up spot at the Herefordshire Ladies County finals at St Martin’s Bowling Club.
Pedlingham pipped Brimfield’s Karen Tandler, 14-13, in an exciting final of the two-wood singles.
The match went down to the final end where Pedlingham prevailed in a tight and entertaining battle.
Pedlingham teamed up with Toby Bennett, Pat Yorke and Joan Jones to help Eastnor secure a 24-16 win over Hereford in the rinks final.
The Hereford team, which took the runners-up spot, consisted of Olive Rawlings, Rene Jones, Cynthia Jones and Doreen Herbert.
However, Hereford tasted victory in the triples final where they defeated Pedlingham’s Eastnor, 19-18, in another gripping final.
The successful Hereford team was skipped by Pat Turvey and also consisted of Gwyneth Thomas and Rene Jones.
The Eastnor side which narrowly missed out was made up of Pedlingham, Pat Yorke and Toby Bennett.
Ross-on-Wye’s Jill Jones carried off the four-wood singles title after a 22-9 win over Kingsland’s Cynthia Bevan.
Castle Green’s Jean Jones and Ann Benson secured the pairs crown after a 23-16 success over Weobley duo Brenda Havard and Barbara Warburton.
All the finalists will be competing at Leamington Spa in the English Women’s Championships, which started this week.
They will be joined by Leominster’s Tracey Powell who was the Herefordshire Champion of Champions for 2007.
