Royal date for Hereford athletics stalwart

County athletics stalwart Tony Williams has a date with royalty next week.

Williams and his wife, Janet, have been invited to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

Williams has encouraged many generations of children to take up athletics.

He started running, himself, in 1945 and, after being a member at Pontrilas AC, he joined Hereford & County Athletics Club in 1959.

Williams has been secretary with both the Hereford & County Athletics Club and the county for more than 20 years.

Tony has done so much for the club and each and every athlete is indebted to him for his continual support and encouragement. No-one deserves this reward more than Tony himself - have a great time Tony, we will be thinking of you.
