Tracey picked for England trial

10:00am Friday 2nd May 2008

A LEOMINSTER bowler is having trials for the England ladies’ team in Leicestershire next Saturday (May 10).

Tracey Powell will be travelling to New Lount Bowling Club and is hoping to cement her place in the England team for the third successive year.

Powell is among 32 trialists who will be battling it out for a spot in the 24-strong Bowls England squad. There will also be two travelling reserves.

Should she be successful at the trials, Powell would be selected for a trial game against Cambridgeshire on Saturday, May 31.

That would be a match in preparation for England’s campaign in the annual Eve Trophy against Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Jersey in June.

Powell has played once for her Leominster club this season when she was on a rink with her 12-year-old son William Powell-Jones, 14-year-old son Jack Powell-Jones and husband John Powell.
