A HEREFORD schoolboy has demonstrated the ‘wow’ factor to win a British Inline rollerskating crown.

Guy Bulleid carried off the 13 and under title at the Best of British hosted by Creation Skatepark in Birmingham.

The 13-year-old faced stiff competition from skaters from all over the UK.

Guy impressed the four experienced judges who marked him in areas such as movement, style, consistency, the difficulty of his tricks and the wow factor.

Professional skater, Rich Parker, who was a judge at the event, said: “The skaters had two, 50 second runs to perform on the designated ramps. We were all impressed by Guy and he thoroughly deserved his 13 and under title.” Guy’s mum, Irene Bulleid, said: “A lot of the boys were using the ramps, but Guy is physically big for his age, so he prefers to use the rails.” Guy is a pupil at the Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School and started rollerblading when he was six years old.

However, he travels to the purpose-built Creation Skatepark in Birmingham to train because there is not a skating facility in Hereford.

“I was delighted to have the chance to enter the competition, and to win it was amazing,” said Guy, who builds his own ramps and practises in his family’s driveway.

He added: ”But if there was a skatepark in Hereford for me and other skaters to practise in, it would be even better.” Guy was presented with a new set of rollerblades by Parker to mark his British title success.
