LUCTONIANS have been cut adrift at the bottom of the National League 2 North after suffering a 20th defeat of the season at promotion chasing Tynedale.

However, the outcome looked very different for Ryan Watkins' men winning a set of early penalties allowing them to push forwards.

And after four minutes had been played hooker Jordan Page crossed the whitewash for the opening score.

The Northumbrians replied with two penalties before Luctonians struck back and their pressure resulted in fly-half Tom Jones taking a 12-9 lead into half-time.

However, that was as good as Luctonians gave with Joe Mills taking the hosts first try three minutes into the second half.

Number eight Scott Powell gave his side a nine points lead with a push-over try before centre Tom Bramwell completed the scoring.

A stubborn Luctonians defence did stop their hosts from securing a bonus point.

This weekend Watkins' side will look to return to winning ways at home against mid-table Macclesfield.
