LEA Wood had a perfect opening two rounds of the 2018 Pickup Truck Racing Championship taking victory in both races and with it the series lead.

The Hereford racer is now in his third season in the series after finishing third in 2017 and second in 2016.

At the opening round at Brands Hatch during the Easter Weekend the 22 car field took to the two Qualifying sessions.

Hereford racer Wood took second fastest lap in both sessions to secure a good starting position for the races the following day.

The wet conditions favoured Wood who soon surged forward to fight for the lead of the race.

The new engine and gearbox package has proved the right move for the Central Group Racing Team, providing a very competitive truck for Wood to take the first win of the 2018 season.

In race two Wood again thrived in the wet conditions and whilst running in the top three, with three laps left to run, contact between the two other drivers allowed Wood to capitalise on there mistake and take his second race win of the day.

"To have such a successful first weekend of the season is exactly where we want to be coming away from this race meeting, said Wood.

"I’ve always been a fan of the wet weather and it’s something that’s never phased me.

The popular racing series heads to Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire on April 21 and 22.
